                                        Community Access Social & Recreational:                                           

Our Animal Corner is set on half an acre and home to ducks, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, mini horse, Shetland pony and goats. Participants can feed, groom, clean, and learn about caring for animals

Inside we have an art room, music room, and games area with pool, table tennis, air hockey, and more—offering fun, skill-building, and social connection.

We also offer outdoor activities like ball games, exercises to boost coordination and fitness, nature walks, and hands-on gardening with planting and weeding.

Through these experiences, participants build skills, connect with others, and deepen their bond with nature.

Adaptive riding:

Adaptive riding is a social and recreational service. Our riding sessions are adapted to meet the skill development and ability of the rider.

The template for this session includes grooming, leading, groundwork and riding. After an intake session, we assess the participant and create a program based on their abilities, needs and goals.

This program aids participants in meeting their goals through the power of our natural environment, open space and farm experiences.  Here at Totoka Lodge, we do not have a set program. We recognise each person is an individual and therefore requires an individual program. Most of our sessions include riding, however, there are times when riding may not be possible.

The safety of our clients is our main priority.

Please note that we have a weight limit of 90kg for safety reasons.

Liberty:

Liberty is a way of connecting with a horse without riding. In this program, we show participants how to take care of a horse starting with the very basics. Not only is this program great for creating relationships, it’s also a great way to gain confidence, fitness and create skills for life.
